The Dampier Peninsula is a large peninsula (if you can call it that) and extends about 200 kilometers north of Broome. Kooljaman (a wilderness camp) is located on Cape Leveque, where the rocks on the beach contrast red against the blue ocean.
Between Broome and Port Hedland lies Australia's longest uninterrupted beach, Eighty Mile Beach. Contrary to what the name suggests, the beach is not 80 miles or 120 kilometers long but no less than 137 miles or about 220 kilometers.
Marble Bar is said to be the hottest place in Australia.
Newman is home to the world's largest open-pit mine. I've been to Kalgoorlie before on my way to visit family in Norseman. The Pit as they call it there is a huge open gold mine. I wonder if the mine in Newman is also as impressive. The iron ore that is extracted there goes to Port Hedland where it is further transported by ship.
Karijini National Park is located between Newman and Tom Price. A large National Park in the Pilbara and if all goes well I can enjoy myself here for a few days.
Tom Price, on the other hand, is the highest ranking in Australia
